Funding information for applicants

The Crown makes a contribution to the costs of iwi, hapū or whānau groups who are progressing an application under te Takutai Moana Act 2011 and the Ngā Rohe Moana o Ngā Hapū o Ngāti Porou Act 2019.

This page has information about how to apply for funding, guidelines for funding, funding matrices and templates.

To apply for access to funding:

Please send us a signed letter providing your name and contact details, which applicant group you are making an application for funding on behalf of and the corresponding Crown-engagement (MAC) or High Court (CIV) number.

We will contact you once your funding is approved and you can then apply to have costs reimbursed.

Changes are being made to improve the funding scheme works because of:

  • Feedback you gave us when we reviewed the scheme
  • What you tell us about your ongoing use of the scheme
  • Findings and recommendations of the Waitangi Tribunal during stage 1 of its Wai 2660 kaupapa inquiry
  • An independent report into the scheme from Deloitte
